Awesome post! I bet it would work against HSV-2 as well. I have heard that they are very similar genetically. They are both double stranded DNA viruses and I bet the genetic coding is virtually identical:

The thing that I am confused about in the U of F post is their wording of: "after the intial outbreak". It almost sounds like you have to get this treatment after your first outbreak/initial infection or something. Hopefully not, but a confusing choice of words..
