Advice on Vit C

Hello,

My mum has a few lumps in her liver, and we are still waiting confirmation of what this is, however I have taken the advice of all the supplemtns to take, and fruit/veg to eat to boost the immune system, BUT I am confused regarding Vitamin C intake. I have read many times over the years that a consumption of more than 1000mg per day can put extreme strain on the organs, as the body can only metabolise a certain amount at once.

But I have read on this forum that people are taking 5,000 up to 10,000 mg per day, surely this must be too excessive??

I usually take timed release 1000mg vit c, ascorbic acid once per day, but I have got my mum 500mg x 2 per day (non time release)should she take more, considering the lumps in the liver??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Also, are bananas ok to eat? if in their green stage? ie lower in sugar.

Thanks guys
