Re: Try the oils seperately!
When I first started using the oil I used it daily but then I started to noticed inflammation so I cut back. Now all I need is one drop-YES one tiny drop!- every three to four days. Now if one drop can cure my lips and my dry skin and dehydration and insomnia and a lot of other minor health issues then that makes it easy to understand how just one piece of food that is high in omega 3 can turn things around for me. I think once I move on to flushing my liver I will not be sensitive to omega 3 anymore, something is off balance in me obviously, this is not normal or healthy.
You sound like you are in good health not a lot of symptoms that would point to fatty acid deficiency except maybe the dehydration at night, frequent urination, and dry skin. Fatty acids form a barrier on the skin that protects the body from loosing moisture.
The other problems you mentioned with healing which may point to oils or problems with the liver. When ever I have too much omega 3 in addition to the peeling lips I also develop nightime drydration and frequent urination, trouble getting into a deep refreshing sleep, and a dry nose. All of these go away with the borage oil.
Your diet seems very healthy for someone your age. You mentioned salads would that include salad dressing? Most dressings are made with soybean oil which is high in omega 3. And it seems you get most of your fats from your meats, ham, chicken etc. Its hard to know what these fats are since the fats are determined by what fats they consumed. I cant eat eggs because most chickens are fed a lot of flax which is high in omega 3. This flax oil ends up in the yolk of the egg. My point is we never really know. Plus fats are stored therefor your fatty acid balance would also depend on what your diet was like when fats were stored. This is all very complicated I know.
I would try the oils and then if they dont help please look into flushing the liver. It could help your lips and would definately insure you a better future healthwise. I think if its going to be helped by the oils you will notice results fairly quickly unless you have something blocking the fatty acid pathways. One other thing is that we are able to absorb fatty acids through our skin and almost all of our soaps and shampoos contain fats of some sort. They are named all kind of confusing things. Anyway my personal experience with this is that one week my lips started peeling again and I was also getting the other symptoms I mentioned above. I knew I wasnt getting any omega 3 in my diet and was getting frustrated because i couldnt figure it out. Thank god I still keep my journal because the only thing different was a change in my shampoo. I was so surprised after switching back to my old shampoo my lips healed right up. Turns out my shampoo had hemp oil in it.
