what inspires you
Assalamu alaiklum Motherof4 and brothers in sisters in islam.
I was wondering what are your favourite islamic site or books that you have read that really inspire you?
When I first embraced islam I would go to islamway or islamonline and islamicity. I would listen to speaches for hours and hours. I would watch Shabir Ally debates in islamicity (back when it was free) And alhamdoulillah more and more I knew that islam was the truth. It was very amazing, it was as if suddenly the fog had lifted and I could see everything so clear and bright and I didnt have to stumble around anymore. Alhamdoulillah.
A few months after I embraced Islam there was an islamic bazar in the basement of our masjid. I bought many books (maybe 300$ worth!) the one that I had read first and the one that Completely shook me up was called Paradise and Hell (Dr. Umar Sulaiman Al ashqar, International Islamic Publishing house)
The first part is about the hell fire and in the evenings I would sit and read my book and I would cry. My husband was on the phone to his family and told them that I was reading this book and said 'I was crying because I was still in hell'. Reading the part about the hellfire made me believe that I was truely one of the people of hell. Alhamdoulillah after reading the part about paradise I realised that there might be some hope for me If I get my act together!
I have lent this book out before and when It was returned I noticed a look on the face that I cannot discribe.
What books have affected you and your iman that you would recommend?
I do also open this question to the non-muslims too, I would be interested to hear some answers.
