There are two sorts of fluid can be released - the normal secretions of lubricating fluid from the vagina is something that all women produce.
Some, but not all women, can produce ejaculate from the urethra. It comes from the paraurethral gland complex which surrounds the urethra and in some women can be almost non-existent but in others very developed indeed. It's the equivalent of the male prostate and where it's well developed a woman is more likely to reach orgasm and to ejaculate fluid from it -- in this instance via the urethra. Actually, there's more than a grain of truth in what you said about thinking you were half a guy on the inside, because for that sort of ejaculation to happen you need to have high levels of testosterone. Very desirable for getting the best out of the physical side of a relationship.
