Hey Shannon, it's good that you recognize how much better you ACTUALLY feel when you don't abuse your body (and not how you are convinced you will feel when you don't, leading to false feelings of deprivation. Why would you feel deprived of something that is harming and makes you feel bad? The mind is a funny thing, but it protects itself how it feels necessary, and sometimes NOT in the most constructive ways. What you are going through is so normal, I can relate, and so can so many people.) I personnally prepared for the fast for a couple weeks by using a controlled diet to begin to gain control over eating habits. I like ones that include unlimited fruits and vegetables, that way you don't feel deprived, but would have to work VERY hard to actually overeat to the point of calorie surplus on just plain fruits and vegetables. I like the fad diety cabbage soup diet, all the ingredients are actually quite natural. Even just doing the first 3 days will help prepare you for a fast, and I would recomend like 3 weeks. GOOD LUCK :)
