Re: Non-fuctioning Gallbladder

Hi. I read your initial post and the thing that caught my eye was the fact that after you threw up the pain went away. I was diagnosed with Gallstones towards the end of June (2003) and have had two Doctors and one surgeon tell me I need surgery...needless to say, I have not had the surgery. I wanted to check my options before taking such a drastic measure. Anyway, since then I have researched numerous websites, books, health food stores, etc. for advice. The first thing I did was change my eating habits. I have virtually eliminated all saturated fat, sugar, flour, etc from my diet and have been drinking organic apple juice by the gallon. That has seemed to help. BUT, this week I have had three attacks. It happens 1-3 hours after I eat. Today all I had was a plain salad (lettuce, carrots, cabbage with tuna & avocado) and I left work 2 hours after eating because I was in so much pain. I feel very nauseous and I know as soon as I vomit I will feel 100% better. How do I know this? Because within the last 5 weeks every time I eat something my body (aka gallbladder) is not happy with I get extremely nauseous (this will last approx. 2-3 hours), I have dry heaves for 20 – 30 minutes, and then I vomit, have slight cramping and immediately feel better. My family thinks I am crazy for not getting the surgery our family doctor recommended. My question is: when you (or anyone else who reads this post) have what is referred to as an “attack” do you always vomit and then feel better after? Because that is how it has been with me. I would not wish this on my worst enemy. I hope you will find something that helps you. I am grateful this site exists.
