Wilson's Disease is a genetic disease you are born with. The symptoms usually start showing up when you are in your early teens because that is how long it takes for the copper to build up in your system. Hepatisis C is a common misdiagnosis for Wilson's because the wilson's gives a false positive for hep c. The side effects from the chelation are minimal and once you are copper free, you just take zinc acetate every day - no side effects. Undiagnosed, Wilson's is fatal -- some people die when they are 20 or 30 or 40 or even 50. It depends how much your body can take before it breaks down and dies. Your temperment is a strong indication too that you have it.
