yes anunnaki, as far as i know it's most likely a sinewave.

i can come up with a pure sine, triangle or square wave at most any frequency so that would be convenient, i don't have as much experience with DC pulsed output. in fact i have a signal generator already that has a pristine output from 1hz to 2mhz, fully adjustable, which is low current anyway, has current limiting and a dc offset control. i could incorporate some extra stuff for additional safety. it's a signal generator used for audio design. it will deliver up to 20 volts at any frequency in that range, with a fully adjustable amplitude. obviously i would start off at lower voltages, and stick to the basic rules. i'm going to read some of the manuals for these machines and try to learn some more when i have time.

and don't worry, i'm not just some regular idiot who's gonna hook himself up to something potentially dangerous.

i appreciate the help with the details vtool.

i will look into transfer factor as well.
