How do you know if foot pads really work?

I told my M.D. about using the foot pads because he checked me for yeast and said I had a lot (he swabbed the inside of my nose and did a test in his office).
He says they don't work.
I am so confused. I had used them for 30 days and was on maint.
at the time he did the test and it still showed lots of yeast.
How do we know they will work? He says the body detoxes thru the liver, lungs, kidneys, etc. He has given me a 10 day course of Diflucan. Will this kill off the yeast and if the pads have removed most of the mercury - will that take care of the problem?
I don't know whether to do another round of pads for 30 days or if I am wasting my money. Why would I still have so much yeast?
I know the pads don't kill the yeast but I thought I read somewhere that you said the yeast should get back in proper balance after the mercury is gone on its own.
