Does anyone else struggle with what to pack your kids for lunch? My kids are in 8th, 7th, 5th and 2nd grades and I am at wits end to know what to pack them for lunch. I almost always give them a healthy-type meat sandwich on whole grain bread, an apple or other fruit, maybe some carrot sticks and then they want chips, granola bars, juice boxes and cookies. Probably not all of these on the same day, but you know what I mean. I try my best to give them "healthy" versions of these foods, rather than the real awful junk, but it's still too many carbs and unhealthy fats. Sometimes they will go for something like a chicken Caesar salad, but still want all the "padding". If I don't give them a "good" lunch, they will trade with their friends for junk.
