Well, if you can't find a way to comfortably settle into just roommates, is there anyway you can find another roommate to take over the other half of the lease?

This would mean one of you moves out to a new place, the other talks to the rental agency about changing out the lease partner. Can be done, usually with a price of researching the other signer.
