Need help for gardnerella!!!

I have been reading so many posts and so many different words of wisdom.I have been diagnosed twice in a row with gardnerella. The symptoms started in October 2005 and after waiting a few months hoping it would go away, I went to my GYN. I have been through all of the treatments us girls have discused here;oral Antibiotics ,vaginal Antibiotics ,creams, and have recently been taking acidophilus on my own with no signs of a change. I must mention that I do not have any odor. My only real ongoing symptom is a horrible itch. HORRIBLE and daily.I am scared to death that this will never go away, and I have no medical insurance and am frankly sick and tired of doctors who seem to not know what to do.Has anyone else had just the itching, and can anyone offer any advice as to what to do before I lose my mind? I have considered colon cleansing, and have read here about doing an apple and water diet for a few days? Probiotics? Fem-Dophilus?
