I am so excited to see the info on this site and to realize that I am not the only one experiencing these things! I have had Mirena for 7 months and during this time I have been trying desperately to figure out why I have gained so much weight. It wasn't until I did some research last week that I connected it to getting the IUD. I've been thinking there was really something wrong with me or was just chalking it all up to the fact that I turned 35 this year. I can relate to all the posts about weight gain, loss of energy, constant increase in appetite, etc. I am so disgusted by the cellulite on my thighs! I never had that even when I was pregnant. I know I weigh an amount that most would love to be but this has all been such a change from my "norm". I am active and healthy and yet just keep gaining weight. I assumed the Depression I've been feeling is from this, but now I'm wondering about that also. I contacted my doctors office about removal and the nurse was very adamant that you can't have it out until you are on your period. I was pretty snippy with her about wanting it out - how long do you wait for a period that never comes any more? Isn't that one of the advantages they all push about this IUD? She would just say that it will be very uncomfortable if I'm not on my period and that the doctor would not do it. How uncomfortable can it be - I've given birth with an epidural that didn't take. Does anyone have any experience with getting it removed when you're not on your period and what was it like?
