Removal

So I am going to have issues getting into see my doctor for removal of my IUD.. we are planning to TTC again starting December and I want to have this thing out of my body way before then to avoid any complications. I see a military doctor and they said I may need to see a specialist for my removal because they only do routine care at the military clinic, but I cant get a referral for a specialist.

So I was thinking of removing it myself. I noticed alot of people here have done that. Does it hurt? How did you do it? When you get it removed at the Dr's office do they just yank it out?
