Re: 40 lbs. in a month and a half - 25 to fasting story

I truly empathize. Many of us women have food/eating issues and body image issues...which shouldn't be too surprising if you read that one recent post with the rise in weight all around the country in the last 20 years. I applaud your effort and determination. I do want to offer a word of caution. You mentioned eating disorder; your description does not fit the criteria of any eating disorder, however please keep in mind that fasting with the goal to losing weight is a slipper slope that can lead there. Many anorexics developed their disorder directly after a restrictive diet (perhaps after they started to regain?). Being miserable in order to look good is another negative association that correlates with how anorexics deal with weight (although they are very extreme in this sense). (p.s. this is not all junk talk - I just finished doing a research paper on Anorexia so that's where all this stuff comes from...just so you know)

My suggestion: keep health in the picture as part of your overall goal. Drinking less that the recommended minimum 6 classes of lemonade in the Master-Cleanse is one example of this: the cayenne and lemonade are the main characteristics that are supposed to aid your body in healing and the syrup is your main source of nutrients. Plus keep in mind that after any fast, you must do some work to rebuild your body. If you do a long (40 day) MC, it is vital not to keep going on it but to spend some time afterwards rebuilding. Otherwise, you deprive your body of much needed nutrition. Cleanse, then rebuild, repeat is the ideal cycle. (and make sure to exercise!)

But not to be discouraged: if your goal is health, you will lose weight. You are certainly in a great place to learn about nutrition and about cleansing, and to get support. I wish you the very very best in your journey which so many of us women share.
