spit test results

So I spit (some simple mouth juice and a little of the mucus from my throat) in a glass of water this morning and let it sit for an hour. I looked in the glass on the table and everything just floated on top. I was disappointed. As I picked up the glass to dump it, little white balls separated from the surface and floated to the middle. Each of the 8 to 12 balls were connected to top via a thin white thread.

So how should I interpret this?
