Periods after Mirena

What was everyone's experiences? My first period after Mirena, 2 days after removal, was very normal. It was a light to medium flow for 5 days with a couple of small clots. However, I am on my second period after Mirena and am on the 3rd day of really heavy bleeding. I am having to wear a tampon and also a pad for backup because within an hour of putting a tampon in I am literally pouring out over it, hence why I need the pad as well. This is very unusual to me because in the 10 years since getting my first period I have never had a very heavy flow. Yesterday alone I went though 8 tampons which seems crazy to me. Could it be that my body is still ridding itself of the buildup from while the Mirena was in?
