everyone reacts differently. I had no problems during the removal process itself, but some people feel pain afterwards, i would imagine, due to the doctor not being too careful! My doctor was very good - for me it just took a few minutes to get it out (no pain, just a little discomfort) and a couple of days later i had some hot flushes which lasted for 4 days, I had a little spotting at the time of removal and a couple of days after, but other than that, nothing - I am still waiting for my first period, a month on! I have had my sweet cravings but no bleed yet. But i feel the hormone is still very much in my system, so that is to be expected. If you read other posts here though, some people get their first period quite quickly after removal. And some of the other symptoms like skin problems can clear up within days (though i still have mine at the moment). I would think it all depends on how much of it your body has soaked up over the 3 years, as to how long it will take to go. You should at the very least find a gradual reduction in whatever side effects you had, starting almost immediately. Good luck with the removal, hope all goes ok for you:)
