I have the same. Candida is present somewhere in my ear canal.
In relation to exercise you will want to know that you MUST take 500 mg of vitamin C before exercising.
I tend to use up to 4x 500 mg a day.... usually my earache will remind me when I forget.
What I find utterly helpful with the recurring pain (this will cause more drainage.... so since you drain it out already, if the vit C takes care of the pain do not bother.) is liquid magmesium (a drop of chloride mag in the ear canal at bedtime, with a cotton.
If you 've had Antibiotics for treting ear infecion in the past, it is very likely that you have candida in your ear, like me.
