Re: Intensely frustrated newb, please help.

I have had a lot of trouble losing weight over the last few years and was immensely frustrated as I tried everything. My mother is diabetic and she had warned me about it and had tested my blood Sugar about 7 years ago and it was normal. Due to this, I never imagined that I might have diabetes. I happened to be reading about insulin and what it does in your body in terms of blood Sugar and how this can make it very difficult to lose weight in the book, "Carbohydrate Addicts Lifespan Program" (excellent book, by the way). So on a hunch, I decided to get a glucose testing monitor and test strips and lancelets at the pharmacy and tested my blood Sugar for over a week and it was through the roof. I went to the doctor and they confirmed that I have full-blown diabetes.

I don't know if this information will help you any, but it was the piece that solved the puzzle for me.

I'm doing a Water Fast right now (I'm on day 15) for many health reasons and posting on the Water Fasting forum. I'm mostly doing it to help heal my pancreas (which produces insulin) and to maybe help "reset" the other organs in my body in terms of what they will accept in the way of blood sugar and insulin.

From what I understood, in the beginning of type II diabetes you gain weight because your organs stop being able to handle your blood sugar or insulin and the only thing that will accept the blood sugar are your FAT CELLS. I guess in the later stages of diabetes, even the fat cells won't accept the blood sugar and so you start to lose a lot of weight and I guess usually at this point you have to start taking insulin shots.

Well I hope this helps. Best of luck.
