Re: Religious Indoctrination and Violence

I wonder if it was the story about the guy who had a wife that got raped repeatedly, I think all night, and wound up dying on the way back to her home town on a donkey with her husband, and the husband cut her up in 12 pieces and gave a piece to each tribe of Iseral. (Something like that anyway) That is the sadest story in the Bible in my opinion. That probably wasn't the story they read since it says she was murdered.

But.. that study shows one aspect where the difference between most Chriatians & most atheists isn't much. It also shows how much everybody knows about the true nature of God. Not much too. On the Christian side, I believe it has a lot to do with believing "the Bible is the word of God". It also shows how brainwashed Christians can be too, with the "Oh it's from the Bible so it's true and good" attitude. (Even though you can find a verse saying the exact opposite some place else in the Bible.) It also shows how simple minded atheists can be too.

The average athiest and Christian alike would benefit greatly by ignoring most of the Bible and following the old saying "Keep it simple stupid". There's a God that invites you to join a loving holy family. Now live like a member. The end.
