Maybe some Mirena devices malfunction?

Has anyone ever thought that maybe certain Mirena devices are defective and may release more hormones than they should, maybe all at once? Maybe this could account for the sudden onslaught of symptoms for some people, especially for persons who have had one before?

Does anyone understand what triggers the release of the hormones in the first place? I was told only a small amount would be released each day but how can anyone be sure that this is what actually occurs? Tweet
