Re: Interesting Hebrew word study along those lines

This is the time of Yom Kippur, or the day of atonement as scripture teaches (I observe Yom Kippur this evening at sundown, as I follow the lunar sabbath and not the Saturn-day Sabbath). Anyway, I am not Jewish, per se, but I follow the scriptural feasts and not the pagan feasts.
It is said in oral Jewish tradition that all souls are remembered before the Almighty on Yom Teruah (Rosh Hashanah), and they are all judged before Him. There are TEN days until Yom fast, to repent, to turn (teshuvah), and then on Yom Kippur, all judgment is sealed. We are given an opportunity to get our hearts in order, and to set our course for the next year (or longer).
The fall feast have to do with the second coming of Messiah Yahshua (Jesus):
In light of this background, here is the word study I did:

The word for atonement in Hebrew is 'kippur'. Strong's Number H3725 matches the Hebrew כפר (kippur). The etymology of this word shows a Hebrew root of Strong's Number H3722 which matches the Hebrew כפר (kaphar).

The Hebrew word "kaphar" means:

1) to cover, purge, make an atonement, make reconciliation, cover over with pitch

a) (Qal) to coat or cover with pitch

b) (Piel)

1) to cover over, pacify, propitiate

2) to cover over, atone for sin, make atonement for

3) to cover over, atone for sin and persons by legal rites

c) (Pual)

1) to be covered over

2) to make atonement for

d) (Hithpael) to be covered

The interesting thing is that the first use of this word in scripture is in Genesis 6 regarding the command for Noah to make the ark and cover it with pitch:

Gen 6:14 Make 06213 thee an ark 08392 of gopher 01613 wood 06086; rooms 07064 shalt thou make 06213 in 0854 the ark 08392, and shalt pitch 03722 it within 01004 and without 02351 with pitch 03724.

By obeying this command and covering it with pitch, Noah made atonement before Yahweh!

Matthew 24 says:

32Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

33So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

34Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

35Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

36But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

37But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

38For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

39And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

40Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

41Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

42Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Master doth come.
