Respiratory or Heart Monitoring Device by drhiii ..... Ask CureZone Community

My wife just came through knee replacement surgery and the pain management aspect went badly. She had an epidural that failed (have since learned of a newer, better pain management method but it is too late for this now). It took several days to get her pain into the managed but still high area. She has a very high medication threshold due to having had to take meds, like oxycodone and oxycotin to manage the pain of Arthritis for a long time prior to the surgery. A double whammy when working to attain a reasonable pain level. We knew this going in...
Anyway, I am concerned about her respiratory situation. She is on a higher than normal about of oxycodone and oxycotin and being well aware of the ramifications of this, requested that she be monitored 24/7 while in the hospital. Now that she is out, am looking for a monitoring device for just a simple heart or respiratory rhythm, that would alarm if something changed. Have not had much luck finding an inhome device.
Anyone have any ideas of what or where to find something like this without needing to buy a medical grade device for big bucks?
