The body stores b12--maybe enough for several years before it runs out...
so maybe you still have stores, and your mother does not.
can you elaborate on this:
"take some yogurt around a half a cup and add 1.5 T. ground flax seeds. No need for meat in your diet as this will give you all the b12 you need."
huh? where is the B12 coming from? Not the flax. I can find no corroboration of this, although the yogurt and flax is a great healer; a form of Janna Budwig's flax
and quark, (or cottage cheese).
