There is no controversy about Vitamin D3. Your immune system requires D3 to function.
You need to take a blood test to determine if you are deficient, and your blood testing result should be 70 to 80 ng/ml.
If you caught a cold, I can tell that you are deficient. At this point, you need to take 20,000 IU Vitamin D3 Gel-tabs made with olive oil for a week to minimize your cold.
I suggest that you go on 10,000 IU daily for 3 months, then get your blood level tested (cost $65 for the at home test kit). It takes 3 months to "fill" up all the cells in your body. Then get your blood tested.
