Ok, after writing this post, I searched for waking at 3 am and found a couple of articles that could be helpful. Apparently 3 am is when the liver re-generages, which requires glucose. In AF, you may not have the reserves needed for this process, so instead, your addrenaline surges causing a blood Sugar sufficiency issue...ultimately leading to insomnia/waking at 3 am.

In my case this makes sense b/c last night, for example, I ate several cookies before bed and I eat dinner very early. 2 sources indicated that you should eat a healthy snack RIGHT before bed and avoid sugars/simple carbs. Suggestions were apple and nuts or carrot and turkey.

So at 5 am I ate some nuts and then feel right to sleep for 2 more hrs. This was after an Epsom Salt bath, magnesium capsule and several seriphos caps didn't work. And here's an article that suggests an OJ, salt and cream of tartar cocktail for the same reason.

I'll try this again tonight...hope it helps!
