I believe it could work, my sons never had serious throat infections after iodine. If throat pain, I painted the area with Iodine + gave them some Iodine internally in juice or tea.

Problems with Antibiotics ; it works, but far too often a re-infection within few weeks. Then another round.
Loads of vit C would be first on my list. Iodine, zinc next.
