Since I was a little girl I have always craved Sugar in the forms of chocolate, sweets, cakes and ice-ream, candida or no candida. The times when I have previously tried to stop all Sugar consumption I have felt sorrow, depression, impatience, aggressiveness and restlessness......feeling relief when I finally, after a couple of days, caved into a Sugar fix. I also recognize that I am extremely sugar sensitive as soon after intake I feel dizzy, get headaches, increased muscle and joint pain, digestive upset, look older and feel exhausted.

I hate it when friends ask for a piece of my beloved chocolate! I feel impatient when I am standing with chocolate in hand waiting in a long line to pay for my sugar fix! The day has been a good day as soon as I managed to buy and eat some sugar product! I never settle for JUST one or two pieces of cake when invited round for coffee! When family kids show me their weekend bag of sweets, I seriously consider asking to taste one!....and do if there are no other grown-ups around!!!!I cannot store sugar products in my house as after five minutes of putting them in the cupboard there is no store!

Yesterday, it finally dawned on me: I was at a coffee shop with two interesting, funny, good friends, and all I could concentrate about was the selection of beautiful cakes sat on the counter in front of our table. Of course I had to buy two pieces and of course I had purchased and eaten chocolate before I met up with my friends!So it finally dawned on me that I am a SUGAR ADDICT.....I have previously blamed this on candida, but I now realize I am first and foremost an addict and of course candida is a natural result of an unnatural consumption of refined flour and sugar products. I have also convinced myself that as long as I am still slim, the sugar I eat cannot be a problem. The reason I am slim (and exhausted) is probably due to malabsorption of nutrients and beneficial fats. If I take a look around and concentrate on friends and family, none of them have this excessive consumption, none of them are desperately waiting for the dessert to come after a lovely meal out....because they didn't feel the need to order dessert! None of them have to eat cake after cake and they can even bring themselves to say that: this cake was too sweet. Too sweet!! Nothing can be TOO sweet for my taste buds.....

So if any of you recognize some of the above feelings, I found a list on the internet giving you plenty of reasons to not touch the sugar. I for one will have to read this list over and over again to help understand the danger I'm dealing with:
