This is true. I had to cut down my usage of mouthwash because my gums and teeth were beginning to feel overly sensitive. I also began to notice that my gums were starting to recede a little too. Whatever you do, do not peel the skin off. If some of the skin is curling up then use a sterilized nail clipper or a cuticle cutter to remove the loose skin but never peel. You can use rubbing alcohol to sterilize them, but then allow it at least a minute to dry. Yes, the Bepanthen keeps the build-up under good control but, I don’t think it is really helping with the overall healing recovery of the skin. With the coconut oil I can see how the build-up is trying to fuse in with the mucosa. I guess it depends on what you really call washing. I do let water touch them when I brush my teeth or shower if that is what you mean. I can’t really say for sure. My buildup is so minimal that I can only guess that small layers/pieces of it are coming off by itself when I brush my teeth. JLE, I applied the Bepanthen on the actual buildup/dead skin. I didn’t wait until they peeled. I started the excessive oral hygiene first because I was still waiting for my Bepanthen cream to come in after I ordered it on Amazon.com. Sirpreis, I just begun to see these grooves show up on my lips. They are showing up more now because of this treatment. I have a whole folder of pictures of my lips in the image gallery named after my screen name. I sure don’t want to go back to that stage of EC again. A candidal or staph infection of the mucosa that creates a biofilm inside the mucosa seems to be the most logical explanation of one type of EC because the excessive brushing & mouthwash rinsing has definitely helped my condition to improve.   [End]

JSL, this is the Bepanthen that I am using. It is the full German version. Everything on the packaging is in German. Also, this version of the cream goes on super smooth, turns clear from white within seconds, and penetrates really well. Only whatever little buildup I have on my lips turns white when exposed to water. The 50% from the bottom to the middle does not turn white at all. However, that skin is still kind of fragile. I am currently still getting buildup but it is at an all time low for me. What ever little buildup I get basically slides off after I finish oil pulling. ... [Image Embedded Here]

Here is a pic for you guys. This is me at day 11 following Sargvy’s excessive brushing/mouthwash method while using the Bepanthen cream & oil pulling. My buildup is under pretty good control. My top lip is responding very well. I still get buildup but it is at a very impressive minimum. My buildup has not reached the levels that it used to get in 11 days!!! This is a first for me. It is not advised to inject hydrocortisone. I think you might have misheard your doctor. I think he might have just mentioned cortisone injections which are administered to joints as well to reduce inflammation. I had cortisone injections and they did not work for me. The last biopsy I had came back negative for microbes but revealed hyperkeratosis, which is severe inflammation. This is why the doctor thought that cortisone shots would help. It has definitely gone down quite a bit but even two or three little white slime dots bother me because I don’t think that a person with normal lips gets that. Don’t worry all, I will definitely keep you all posted. The doctor told me that he is going to pay extra special attention to the culture swab he took from me. He told me that the small agar lined capsule he placed my culture in will be sitting on his desk for two weeks.
