Yes... Healing, I did go through that phase, I would say during that time for me they still built up a bit even with products but it was definitely less until they eventually settled down. I felt this way at first as well healing and posted about it. It seemed clumpy and not really all that moisturizing, but then after my lips peeled I noticed it slowed buildup dramatically. The fact that you don’t get buildup anymore may put you in a different scenario than I was in because I was still getting buildup before I started using this. Thanks guys :p I’ll try to answer all your questions. I had the condition for around 6 months. I got it after a TCA chemical peel to my lips to diminish fordyce spots, and taking the skin off too early. I have no allergies that I know of nor did my derm believe it was an allergy, just a reaction to the injury of my lips. No history of this or anything else that telling in my family. thank you guys protocal 1 prevex (thin layer whenever needed) 2 fucidin (thin layer a few times a day under prevex and prevex hc) 3 prevex hc (thin layer morn and night) 4 lots of vaseline layered over fucidin and prevex hc at night try to gently rinse the white gunk off your lips in the morning but dont rub anything off, be very sterile and rinse lips during the day with contact lense cleanser or saline solution after meals then rinse with water... use qtips and water to remove any stuck on food particles remember, the goal is not to leave big amounts of buildup on your lips, ...

Nice Healing! Prevex is an excellent product. When I first started using it I thought it was increasing buildup the first few days, then when I started using after my lips had prematurely peeled I noticed it was making the buildup slower to appear along with the fucidin. Each morning I would awake with a little gunk from the products that washed off easily... it was like the buildup but it no longer clung to my lips and make them as sore and inflamed. Sorry guys don’t plan on leaving the community. The story on buildup is, you don’t want it to build big or it will probably temporarily worsen your lips. You want to keep it moist, sterile, and a small amount of buildup on your lips at all times, that first protective layer. For lip biters ect. Leave your lips alone, don’t intentionally ever knock off the buildup, but use products that slow it from creating or staying on your lips. It is better to have a clean surface to apply the products to, so they penetrate and are sterile, but ONLY if you dont knock it off manually and inflame it. Yeah... soaps are pretty much all very drying and irritating... I even found diluted herbal soap was increasing inflammation in my experience. Just do yourself a favor and grab some saline solution or contact lease disinfectant. It’s a lot more convenient and easy on the lips... spray it on, let it soak for 30 seconds and then rinse it off with water. Not to mention with soap you actually have to do some mild scrubbing which is also no good.   [End]

Soaps are terrible for this condition... I think anyone wanting to use any disinfectant on their lips should use the disinfectant used for contact lenses because it’s made as gentle as possible and just as effective for disinfection. Nope... it’s totally not like vaseline while it does include petrolatum like most barrier creams. It contains microcrystalline wax and comes specially refined in anhydrous base. It dries on the lips over a period of 15 minutes and almost has the feel of adding an extra layer of skin. 1% Hydrocortisone is over the the counter in Canada as well but with the prevex HC it is prescription, for whatever reason.   [End]

Yeah I can do anything with my lips at this point as far as day to day activities. I eat whatever I want ect... I’m just very sanitary about it and carry my saline solution, some q tips and my prevex wherever I go. I can just take a pic on my webcam right now. Inflammation seems to be steadily and very slowly dropping. I think the best bet is a low potency steroid for a long duration of time... that’s what both derms I saw felt. I’ve been on low potency steroid for 4 months so it takes a while. I’m not seeing the specialist I saw again until April. You can notice it’s a little more red on the top half of my bottom lip, but some of that is to due to the white cluster of fordyce spots I have on the corner of the lower lip making it appear that way. it depends if i sleep with my mouth open... i’ve had my nose broken and reset a few times due to mma so it’s a bit difficult to breath from my nose sometimes... in those cases when my mouth is open i get a lot of white gunky shit... that i assume is saliva, mixed with the product because it’s never really stuck to skin... if i sleep with my mouth closed i get a tiny amount and sometimes none and it goes away as soon as i have a drink... it is possible that this is dead skin cell accumulation along with the products and a dry mouth, but if it is not really connected to your skin i wouldn’t ...

Doubtful... the problem is chronic inflammation inside the lip causing thickened, unsightly skin outside the lip as the lip skin is protecting itself from the inflammation. Laser would likely just make the inflammation much worse leading to an even worse case of EC.   [End]

Yes could very well be... I may be looking at them closer now because they were unnoticeable for so long due to the inflammation and the lips looking so smooth due too being puffy. They are likely becoming more noticeable due to inflammation dropping. I think I’m going to ease back on the steroid for the next week and just stick with regular prevex and vaseline and see what results I notice.
