Well, I thought I’d share the fun I had a week ago. I’m the one with the biggest thyroid (that doesn’t show outside) that my 70-year-old endocrinologist, and now insensitive ultrasound woman, has ever seen. While the ultrasound woman was doing the 40-minute ultrasound, she kept taking deep sighs in frustration of how to ultrasound the whole thyroid (we didn’t talk). That was very comforting. Good question, Trapper! I will post in the iodine forum from now on. But, just let me add the two other life changers that happened early on--being much calmer (could be why I seem happier!) and not nearly as stiff when I wake up in the morning. Wow! I haven’t been in here for over a month. I’m not sure why people feel the need to personally attack any of you. Well, yes, I do, but I won’t get into that here! Anyways, I wanted to update you all on my progress. I’m the one who has the biggest thyroid, which isn’t outwardly visible on my neck, that a 70-year-old endocrinologist has ever seen. Thanks for your reply! I will find a doctor that I can work with about this--I’m currently living outside the US. Lugol’s-like iodine is not available here. I’ll be back over Christmas. I’ve always been the one open to things in our family. Fifteen years ago, I refused a hysterectomy for the fibroids, and searched out the doctor (then in LA) who brought the UAE procedure to the US (from Belgium or France). One major hospital in SCal wanted to do the procedure for free, as I would have been the first one. I opted for a woman who had done only a few. When I canceled the hysterectomy, ...

Thanks for your reply. I have learned so much from this site. I warned her before she went in today that doctors don’t listen. She knows what I told my brother. How can one family have so many issues? My father had a goiter in his 40’s, both he and my brother have prostate cancer, I’ve had fibroids and so has my sister and mother. Come on. Iodine has to be the cause of all these problems! It makes sense. I know doctors won’t make money on iodine, but I also think they are conceited, and don’t like anyone second guessing them. I’m so glad that my brother is listening to me (he has recurring prostate cancer) and starting iodine, but everyone else thinks I’ve turned into a nut! Hey, everyone! I’m really upset because my twin sister went to the doctor today, (she’s had a thyroid biopsy) and asked him for an iodine test to check and see if she was deficient. He said that the last time someone asked him that, he referred the person to an endocrinologist and he said ”you’re not deficient in iodine unless you live in Africa”. I warned her that most doctors aren’t in tune to this information yet, but to insist. She’s now not going to keep taking the iodine that she started with (1-2 drops of 2% lugol’s). When my 70-year-old doctor told me it was the biggest thyroid he’d seen that isn’t visible from the outside, that wasn’t fun. When I told him I was going to try iodine, he said ”go for it!” Not exactly a ringing endorsement, but I’ve always done my own research thoroughly about any issue (thankfully not many!) and remember that doctors ”practice” medicine--one actually admitted that to me! Goiter! Me? Three different doctors felt my thyroid area (I had a cold and was afraid of flying) and then one astute nurse practitioner said, ”your thyroid seems a little large”. She recommended an ultrasound. The endrocrinologist said I have the biggest thyroid he’s ever seen that doesn’t show externally. I have a couple large multinodular growths, one on each lobe. I was stunned. Then the biopsy. Benign. OK, now what? The doctor said to come back in 4 months for another ultrasound.
