That massive storm that you spoke gets its energy from the Arctic air pushing down, the Pacific from the west, and the infamous ”Albuquerque low” that comes up from the south. These influences literally clash over the top of us here (Colorado) and then once combined, move eastward. Videos from this are quite stark. We have had highly unusual weather here in Colorado too. Unseasonably warm, like 20-25f degrees above norm right up until Xmas. Then a couple of cold snaps and snow. Howdie HV, Long time no exchange. Quick question if I may.... For 2-3 years now, and likely longer, I’ve had this nagging issue that connects between the nasal/sinus passage on the right side of my head, that connects up with the Eustachian tube and into the ear canal. Just returned from a sojourn where I went to a farm and picked a slew of veggies and some fruit... and am now learning how to can and preserve things. This is absolutely the best. Racked up a ton of tomatoes today into quart jars. Picked some excellent chilis that are superior to the standard ’Hatch’ chili from New Mexico which I also get every year but these chilis are sooooo much better. Picked, roasted, peeled, stored in one day. Will be doing some canning of other things in the next few days. But have ”discovered”, yeah... like I was the first one ever... how great it is ...

Ya, unfortunately those pesky wood stoves and pellet stove do require cleaning. As do the stove piping. Before I went to a gas insert, and you are looking to heat a home, have you done things like weather-ized your home? You know, more insulation, eliminating drafts, etc... that would be the first place. Do you have a forced air heater? If you are in colder weather and your home is not well insulated, I bet it runs a lot yes? Ok, if it is convenience you’re going for, I’d look to making sure your home is well insulated first. Ah, finally something I can ring in on. Several things here. If you are experiencing smoke in your living area, there are a few things to look at why you are having what may be backdraft. The height of your chimney or stove pipe is one. Is it clean? Even a little built residue can cause an uneven airflow. Cleaning the pipes and chimney is vastly important for several reasons.
