I would disagree with the article. Instead I would write numerous studies proving the danger of mercury amalgam fillings have been ignored. There are journals collecting dust with articles about the hazards of mercury fillings in sheep, monkeys, norway brown rats, mice, and people. People guessed rather than tell the truth. There is a study showing higher levels of mercury in certain areas of the brain for those who have amalgam fillings compared to those who have no fillings, or fewer filling surfaces (one filling might have four surfaces). Some mercury in the brain formed a selenium-mercury pair that was identified as nontoxic. Selenium was seen to delay the onset of neurological symptoms in inorganic (mehg) poisoning, but did not stop the symptoms from occurring. Selenium was not recommended for clinical use as selenium/selenide is toxic. Sam Ziff published before Huggins; he had a PHD in Nutrition and interviewed a mercury free dentist and got case studies before and after amalgam removal. I liked Huggins too. Found out I have some notes from Cutler’s book along the lines of a half life of mercury of 60 days in the body as measured by micrograms of Hg in urine secretions (per 24 hr period). I have more books on my scavenger list that I have not read. I was worried as I did not have an oxygen mask, and the first day was worried some stuff might have leaked through the dam. I had a dental dam that prevented me from breathing through my mouth most of the time. There was an airconditioner unit on the wall above the chair and it dumped air onto my face providing ventillation. At one point my lower jaw started to shake rapidly. I thought it was because it was tired or from the mercury. The dentist put a plastic mouthpiece into my mouth to stop the shaking. I did not know about cutting out the fillings, one dentist told me he knew how to cut out fillings, was not sure what he meant. The dentist drilled with a water spray stream on the tooth. He had to keep drying off his mirror when he worked on my upper molars. It took longer to get the job done.
