I believe they inhibit certain liver enzymes that are involved in metabolism. I’m not sure which ones, but I know one process that the liver is responsible for is converting protein into blood sugar, which is quite important when starting a fast. I would not take this lightly as very bad things could happen. If you decide to go ahead and try the fasting, you should wean off of the antidepressant very, very gradually.
