Many horse owners won’t even use moxidectin on the horses (Quest Gel). I do, but I haven’t had any issues with it at all. I certainly wouldn’t ingest it myself, though. The controversy with this drug is the toxicity. It takes very little over the ’recommended dose’ to cause harm - that’s the belief anyway. And there is no recommended dose for humans so I can’t say that I’d recommend anyone try this. It only needs to be administered every 4 months. I don’t know what the half life is, something you may want to consider checking out. My 1200 lb horse is okay with it, though.   [End]

While I don’t buy into the ”carb blocker” thing... IF white kidney beans were successful in blocking carb digestion, it would cause other issues that would also be completely undesirable. Blocking production of the enzyme(s) responsible for carb digestion would have that food progress through the digestive tract undigested. It would reach bacteria (the good stuff) in the intestine, ferment, be ’eaten’ by that bacteria and the result would be gas, bloating, pain, diarrhea. I just started taking Betaine-HCl. For months I’ve had stomach issues. They started after I took pyrantel. I’ve narrowed it down to protein causing the problems. The problems being: I can only eat once every two days. I get violently ill from eating. I’ve lost 50 lbs since the middle of June. MRI scheduled for Nov 5. That study appears to be related to injecting albendazole directly into cysts of sheep. During my travels in farmland, I have never seen injectible albendazole. IF sheep are routinely injected with it, it would likely be by a vet. The cysts would have to be located (ultrasound?) and there would have to be some kind of imaging equipment used to make sure it was actually being injected into the cyst. I believe the blood must be drawn at night for filariasis testing. I recall something like 2 am? I guess the challenge would be to find somewhere to do that. I wonder if the doctor has a way to get you in the back door to an ER in the middle of the night to draw the blood? I have no idea... I was tested in 2001 (immigration medical) and have ZERO risk factors since then. I’ve had my nails done and been made to bleed several times. Then there’s my H1N1 shot last fall at the ghetto walk-in. I wouldn’t be surprised (well, yes I would) if they reused the syringe. Guess it doesn’t matter how long or how... Treatment is interferon and ribavirin. Anti-virals. I was sent to an internal medicine guy who tested me for everything under the sun. Celiac disease (biopsy), all the HEPs, brain tumor, lymphoma, gallstones, etc etc. Everything (except hep c) normal.

I believe ugh said that he did NOT get tested. The first test it ’presumptive’... It will only tell you if you have the antibodies present. Which only means that you’ve been in contact with the virus at some point in your life. It will not tell you if you are currently infected. Some people spontaniously clear the virus but still have the antibodies. The second test to confirm infection is a PCR test and I think expensive. Treatment is approx. $20,000 at the low end. Meaning, the shortest course. There are different ”strains” each with different treatment outcomes.   [End]

Prednisone suppresses your immune system. Your immune system (at least paritally) attempts to keep foreign bodies in check. By suppressing it, you may allow the foreign bodies to ’take over’. Depends on what you’re infected with, I guess. Some parasite treatments recommend steroids, while with others they can kill you (hyperinfection).   [End]

I believe the mortality rate is so high because people trust their doctors. They have their appendix removed. Then the gallbladder. Then take PPIs for eons. Check posts here from people in the U.S. getting treatment. It doesn’t happen. The American medical system is no better, and in some ways I believe far worse, than the Canadian system. I have lived in both countries and can tell you that I didn’t receive ANY better medical treatment in the U.S. than I do in Canada. In fact, since it cost me SO much more out-of-pocket, I would say worse.
