What was everyone’s experiences? My first period after Mirena, 2 days after removal, was very normal. It was a light to medium flow for 5 days with a couple of small clots. However, I am on my second period after Mirena and am on the 3rd day of really heavy bleeding. I am having to wear a tampon and also a pad for backup because within an hour of putting a tampon in I am literally pouring out over it, hence why I need the pad as well. Take your finger and find your cervix, then run your finger around the entire opening in the middle. You should feel a little wire type string, your doctor may have cut it very short but you should be able to feel it sticking out of your cervix. If you cant feel it then you should get checked because it could have shifted.   [End]

I dont know about it causing your allergic reactions, but it has been proven to cause anxiety in patients. It caused me to have anxiety and many panic attacks. I removed mine almost a month ago and I have only had one panic attack since.. before removal I was having multiple attacks every day. You are not alone. I know that Mirena helps with alot of complications due to endometriosis, but if you feel that it is causing you to have suicidal thoughts, PLEASE see your doctor imediately!! Mirena is known to cause depression/mood swings in its users, and if yours is that bad then you need to seek help right away. If you choose to stay on Mirena then you will at least need to discuss further treatment options for depression with your doctor. Please seek help! Well if you dont want hormonal birth control you can either get the Paraguard IUD (which I dont reccommend either), you can get a diaphragm, or you can use condoms. Thats about it.   [End]

Well.. I got my period 2 days after removal. If you had unprotected sex after removal or even just before removal then there is always a chance of pregnancy so I would give it a little more time and then if you still havnt started then maybe get a HPT.   [End]

You will have some minor cramping, just like menstrual cramps. I took mine out on a Friday night and started bleeding on Sunday.. I took mine out about 2 weeks ago, and I know a few others on here have done it as well. It didnt hurt, I didnt feel it at all and then there it was in my hand, just like that. All you do is grab the strings and give a firm tug and it should slide right out. If you feel any resistance or pain at all then stop immediately and call your Dr. But unless it is embedded or something then that shouldnt be an issue. After taking it out, you will start to bleed within the next 2 days or so, but you shouldnt have any bleeding with removal.   [End]

The ring is about the same as the pill as far as hormones, and the patch has had some serious side effects and law suits against it. At this point I have not had a good experience with any form of BC so I am sticking to natural planning. You just need to listen to and trust your body. If it is telling you that something is wrong then something is definitely wrong. Whatever your dr says, screw her. My psyhiatrist told me on Wednesday that my mood swings and Bipolar diagnosis very well could have been caused by the hormones in the Mirena. If i were you I wouldnt get the Paraguard either. It just isnt natural to have any foreign object inside your body, and unfortunately alot of us have learned the hard way. At this point I wouldnt reccommend any birth control, other than condoms and natural planning. I had my pap done in March and I had inflamation of the cervix.. it would actually bleed just by being touched. Sex had been awful for me for awhile, always bleeding afterward, and it actually hurt when he would get too far in. These doctors are so full of it. Not too long after getting mine I started to suffer from anxiety, I came up with these irrational fears, such as.. I bled pretty much all the time for the first 6 months. Its like I would stop for a week and then start right back up again. From what my doctor told me that is normal. But I didnt feel normal. I am surprised they let you get one though, because as you said it is very uncommon for someone who has never had children to get an IUD - it isnt recommended.
