ART: Flying Free/Shedding Layers
Up late creating art inspired by a new book I'm reading!
Date: 3/2/2017 10:07:52 PM ( 9 y ) ... viewed 2165 times I've been reading a new book of "poems, rants, and prayers" by Artist and Poet Shiloh Sophia, called "Tea with the Midnight Muse, Invocations & Inquiries for Awakening". She challenges the reader to find creative solutions to one's life issues by asking questions following short readings she calls "invocations", each reading focusing on a different life issue. While reading the book late at night sitting up in bed, and pondering the questions pertaining to the issue of self-forgiveness, this image popped into my head. It was late, I was tired, but the "inner voice" in my head commanded "Draw NOW!" I keep colored pencils and ink pens and drawing paper next to my bed so there I sat, until 6:30 A. M., drawing the vision that I call "Flying Free":

The next night, still reading "Tea with the Midnight Muse", the theme was on self-acceptance. Again, I was inspired to draw, and made this cartoon of shedding layers of what I no longer need, this time up until 6 AM! One of these nights I'm going to get some sleep!
