Doctor gave a protocol of tindazole 250 mg twice daily and paromomycin 250 mg three times a day a month on and off.
Can I start tindazole for one day then paromomycin the next?
Anyone know how this type of protocol can be done?
The doctor might be back in the office Thursday so thought it'd be worth asking if anyone knows.

This is a reply to # 2,137,159I'm not sure, I think they are sending my results in the mail but I forgot to get down the information. The doctor said it was an amoeba type of protozoa though and the protocol is the paromomycin is on and off by a month to cover its life cycles.

This is a reply to # 2,137,167You need the test result and call back the Dr and ask them specifically what the protocol is and how they want you to proceed .
Of note if they didn't tell you what was found and what the protocol was I would be dubious of there treatment.
From what you say the duration is rather long but those are baby dosages and might make the bugs resistant.
You should get a second opinion the DR seems kind of daft if he cant tell you how he/she wants you to take the drugs he/she prescribes.
Paromomycin I took for 14 days and its by body weight so for me was 750 mg a day x3.
Also for say e histolytica you need a daily dose of tinidazole at 2grams .Advertisement

This is a reply to # 2,137,438Well looking at the paromomycin it comes out to 750 mg a day if i was taking the bottles worth for one week so that might be the dosage, it also has three refills on it - it could be the doctor chose the prescription amounts so it'll work with insurance and having the right amount of doses of it per week, etc.
The doctor apparently is in office on Thursday's so will try to call then to clarify the protocol before starting it. I'm not sure if I kept notes from when I saw the doctor and he prescribed the protocol and i also got a switch from flagyl to tindazole, so will see what he says about it.
