Re: lol, one for the kiwis
Arrrrrgh Spuds. You hit one my favorite word to describe the lazy arse classes. Mediocrity. I really need to restrain myself and not rip out some scathing verbiage. Suffice it to say you've landed on a hot button topic... that of mediocrity.
It is astonishing to see how people aspire to mediocrity though. I suspect you too have been very fortunate to have parents, and people who surrounded you, who know what it is to roll up one's sleeves and get things done, and to get them done with excellence. Personally, consider myself very lucky to have faced sink or swim challenges in sports, where you got your teeth kicked in and one had a choice to either quite, or get up and be better than the thing that knocked you down. In ballet, there was no way one could fake it. And so on.
This lip sinking thing that you speak of, it is beyond a joke. And why youth aspire to emulate that, or that it is found to be somehow something worthy to aim for, is jaw dropping. Let me see if I have this right... how many times have you actually gone on stage to sing, and faked it? Suspect the answer would be 0.
By the way, are we ever going to get a chance to hear you sing? No pressure, heh. I am willing to bet that you have a lot of soul in your voice. Am I close?
Mediocrity. What a word. What a word. Now I am all worked up for the evening! Grrrrrrr.
