WOOHOO!!! + grounding rod OR plug? Re: Earthing, Grounding, Barefooting...waWaWOWZAH (must read methinks)
You got it! That's AWESOME! :)
Yep, the sheets/pad come with the grounding 'plug' to put into a wall socket; if we want a grounding rod, we have to order that separately.
I've got the tester-thingy (they sent me one free, with my mat...as well as a book). But our house is pre-1960 (before the sockets had the grounding prong/hole). In fact, our house was *moved* to it's present location in 1900. Heavens only knows when the wiring was first installed, but it didn't have an indoor bathroom 'till the early 1960's. Anyway...
Even though we've had a new circuit box and few grounded sockets installed (and the grounded sockets we have test out to be 'okay'), I'm STILL going with the grounding rod.
From Appendix A...
1. The most effective Earthing system in the studies consisted of a ground od placed directly in the Earth with a ground wire running into the home and connected directly to the Earth device. Still, most people who use electrical ground systems (that is, plugged into a properly grounded wall outlet...) report similar health benefits...
4. (4th paragraph) ***Many electrical ground systems are prone to carry induced high-frequency electrical "noise" emitted by electrical appliances and motors running in the home.*** The noise also radiates from appliances into the general living environment as electromagnetic fields (EMFs). To verify the level of electrical noise in your living environment or on your electrical ground system requires an electrical engineer or specially trained electrician to take measurements with an oscilloscope grounded to an independent Earth ground... It is the potential disturbance that electrical noise may have on the nervous system of an electrically sensitive individual that is an issue with the use of home electrical ground systems. ***For such people, the best Earthing option is to bypass the electrical system inside the house and connect to a dedicated outside ground rod.***
There is NO doubt in my mind (with our old wiring, and many ungrounded lights, appliances, etc.) that 'the above' is case for us For those that have a doubt about their wiring and "noise", it's MUCH cheaper to just buy the ground rod than find and pay an electrician to come out with an oscilloscope...especially when it's likely in pre-1960 homes that there is going to be plenty of 'noise' (and then one would have to pay the electrician AND pay for a grounding rod).
I'm on my way to order my grounding rod now We'll be looking forward to hearing your 'first report' (along with all the follow ups :)
Blessings,
Uny
