Re: Questions about lexapro
Hi Hope,
Lexapro worked for my anxiety. As others found I eventually went for the minimal dose then started cutting it in half. So about 2.5 mg yeah.
I went off of it due to getting hit by just about all the side effects. That's just unlucky tho - others seem to do much better.
In hindsight, I think taking that to boost serotonin along with something/supplement that can reduce cortisol would have been the right match. I would be careful about adding in that supplement to ensure it works fine with SSRIs.
GPs prescribe a lot of SSRIs and most have a lot of experience with what works and what doesn't. And I agree with gem, that Psych sounds like a jerk.
BTW, spring for Lexapro, (Ecitalopram) not Celexa (Citalopram). The first is a refined verions of the second and has fewer side effects. It absolutely is worth the extra money.
As others have said, SSRIs are often prescribed with some benzos. I think it's interesting to take one once early while having the SSRI and see the effect. That way you know you have that lifejacket around.
From everything you've said, this sounds like it could be a huge step for you.
Cheers!
