Rest your hand, don't put your elbow on desk so you can prop your head up. Get a quality b-complex and start taking 100mg twice a day. Also, pick up a sublingual b12 supplement -- methylcobalamin 3000mcg twice a day.

I developed nerve pain in my wrist by my thumb joint by playing too many hours on my game boy and iphone. It started to hurt even when I wasn't holding anything in that hand --- sharp nerve pain. I picked up a thumb brace and that helped a lot. But what really helped was the b-complex and the b12 supplements. Within 2 weeks, the pain went away completely. I still supplement the b-complex and take a lower dose of b12 (1,000mcg) for maintenance.
