Re: Past psychological fear of water fasting
"I have this deeply engraved psychological fear that this will happen to me again. Can somebody help?"
If you cannot get over your fear of fasting, then don't fast. Fasting in fear can be harmful to your health. Unless you are so sick that you are only a few days away from death, then there is no reason why you should so fear a few days of fasting.
Fasting in fear will cause your body to release a cascade of stress hormones which will do more harm than good. If you need enemas to complete a one or three day fast, then you will certainly not be able to handle a long fast. I fasted for 30 days last year and I did not use an enema even once. Our bodies have been shaped by evolution to endure many days without food; were that not so, none of us would be here today because our ancestors did not have access to an abundance of food the way we do today in industrialized countries.
You obviously have trouble trusting your body to do the right thing. That does not surprise me, as we who live in industrialized societies have been conditioned to believe that we will die if we miss one meal, let alone several.
Also fasting in a disharmonious environment can be harmful. Your body is more physically and emotionally sensitive during a fast. You do not want to take in a lot of negative emotional energy. You may end up getting depressed and releasing a lot of stress hormones which will inhibit rather than facilitate healing.
Learn to trust your body. When you feel that you can trust your body, then you may need to find a quiet, pleasant place to conduct a long fast. Otherwise, limit yourself to short fasts, as you have been doing.
