Re: At Wits End after Mirena Removal

I joined just to write this message-- I've been through a lot of turmoil due to the Mirena. I used it for 16 years-- very few cycles during that time. I had it removed 5 months ago.

I've been in university and I thought I was going to have to drop out-- I had no ability to concentrate whatsoever-- I was a straight A student and didn't realize I was going through a hormone-induced depression. All I knew is I couldn't read- I would go over the same sentence over and over and when I had to do a paper I felt like I was buried in concrete- Could not summon the will to do anything.

I just wanted to let people know that the Depression can creep up on you- I thought I had developed a major character flaw and that I had lost my passion for my career path, which I was formerly in love with. I am still having a hard time, but it helps so much to know that this is a physical response and that it is real and will pass.

I used to recommend the IUD to everyone- no more. It is not good for women.

Hope this gives someone a bit of hope- if it can help anyone avoid beating themselves up the way I have over the last 5 months, then at least something good will have come from this.
