Re: has anyone worked directly with Dr Lawrence Wilson?
This is the correct link to your blog.

I see you had a copper IUD and had a rather prompt onset of symptoms from it. That seems to make you an ideal candidate for what Dr W. does.
I don't know Dr W so am not pro or con about him and his methods. No one is a medical god so we can't expect a doctor's system to work equally well for all patients. However when someone has been around for many years, there is a good bet he can be helpful for some situations.
It can be really challenging to sort out the many possible causes or contributing factors when a person has such poor health and a long list of symptoms. Therefore it can be difficult to decide which interventions or systems to use.
My problem turned out to be mostly a heavy metal problem due to long-time exposure in my family's business; however that obviously won't be the primary problem for most people. Since we are all exposed to greater amounts of HMs and other synergistic toxins than our ancestors, HMs could be a contributing factor for many people.
I generally like the semi-natural medical philosophy of Functional Medicine; however, the exact methods will vary from doctor to doctor.

A close female friend goes to one FM doc and I've been in the office with her a couple of times. I go to a different FM doc. There are definitely some similarities in their way of investigating long lists of symptoms; however they also vary in their knowledge and areas of interest.
For example, one might be interested in investigating Lyme while another likes to do heavy metal detox, etc. One may use more mainstream medicine than another while digging for underlying causes.
In mainstream medicine, your insurance company's coverage will have a big impact on what the doctor will recommend. He is not going to waste time trying to fight the Ins Co! This keeps cost down, but your health may suffer as well.
That was the experience of both my friend and I. The medical interventions that worked best for us were probably not covered by our insurance plans so our many doctors over many years did not get to the root of the problems. We were clueless about this so we remained sick for decades.
When you use alternative doctors, the pressure to keep costs down is mostly on the patient. I was very fortunate to have a compassionate doctor who understood my financial limitations.
My friend's doctor was also a decent man in this regard, especially considering she did not have the same limitations. However it is easy to see opportunities for the doctor to take advantage of patients.
Sites such as this can be a good resource as we compare notes with others who have similar symptom clusters.
