acyclovir cream

hello,

I was wondering for someone who has active oral hsv1 with breakouts and/or prodomes often is it really bad to use acyclovir cream preventatively? for example I have been using a thin film of it along my lipline for about 2 months now and it helps a lot. Many of my worst outbreaks started in the middle of the night when I wasn't awake to notice them starting.

Can acyclovir cream be used regulerly? How bout long term use? Any damage?
