Oh gosh... that sounds hard, and I'm sorry, that must be really rough.
Since mine is not a culture with arranged betrothals, if it were my future husband I'd find it a problem to hear this news and it would definitely give me pause and wonder what is going on for him.
Sounds like the man wants his space all right. I've read in plenty of women's mags that a new bride should sweetly ignore all this cold-feet last minute fear and she should plunge ahead with the caterer, but I think it's wise to hold off on calling that U-Haul company.
The temptation is to be much much sweeter to him to show him what he's missing. But it could be really a good thing, to just give him some rest and free time. If I were in this position I'd repaint my dining room and enjoy my own space and invite some girlfriends over for movie night and take a little extra time to be single.
Let him be the one to decide he really wants this. A guy who does will let you know in a big clear way no matter how poor or shy or busy he is.
