Potassium seemed to be a big help to my vision, but like you, I suffered from inflammation from it in the form of an interstitial cystitis flare. Quite painful. I occasionally will remineralize my distilled water with Icelandia Salt which is higher in potassium and magnesium than most salts, yet natural and not blended. The good thing about potassium and the other electrolytes is that they can be brought into balance by the other minerals. Since I'm regularly taking zinc, potassium's companion mineral, I'm hoping that that is happening for me as I improve my digestion and zinc absorption.

It seems that my Grapefruit-Seed-Extract supps are causing a bit of die-off again. I was very sleepy last night, and had a hard time getting up this AM. And I was even a bit stuffy this AM even though I haven't had many sinus issues since starting the HCl.

Ohh, speaking of HCl. If you can find a brand called Blue Bonnet, that one doesn't contain any silica. It's the brand I have been getting at my local store. It isn't cheap, about $15 for 90 capsules, Vcaps, by the way, but I have liked them. There is also one by Source Naturals, that doesn't contain silica, it is sold at iherb.com, about $10 for 180. I have ordered one, about $7 for 120 by Now, but it does contain silica. I had to get it because the Source Naturals apparently contains dairy. I checked them all at iherb, online, and all the rest had silica, sorry.

Perhaps you could use potassium salt in your bath. I'm not sure if it will work, but maybe you can absorb it like magnesium.
